VEX'D (Planet Mu) 01.30h

Vex'd are Jamie and Roly from London. They met at college in Bristol where they released their first two classic 12"s on the Subtext label. It was 'Pop Pop' (from Subtext 1) & 'Lion' (from Subtext 2) that caught my attention on their demo... I wanted to release Lion but they'd already cut it... so we decided to roll with the new stuff... first fruits are the 'Gunman'/'Smart Bomb' single followed by the 'Degenrate' album in June/July, which will blow on the scene like Pop Pop did last year, full of choice cuts.



MILANESE (Warp, Planet Mu) 24.00h

Milanese mag dan al de buurman van Warp-discipel Chris Clark zijn, wie de muzikale achtergrond van de jonge Londenaar kent, vraagt zich af wat een piano- en trombonespelende muzikant bij een vermaard electronica-label te zoeken heeft. Enkele flarden van zijn mini-album beluisteren en u weet het antwoord. Met zijn moddervette baslijnen, sferische tegendraadse breaks en robotvoices ligt '1 Up' immers volstrekt in de lijn van het strakkere spul dat we de afgelopen jaren van Warp gewoon zijn geworden. Wie daaruit concludeert dat Milanese op zijn debuut nog eens dunnetjes overdoet wat gevestigde waarden als Aphex Twin en Squarepusher hem hebben voorgedaan, slaat de bal mis. Want dit wervelende debuut bevat een geweldige mix van stijlen. Strakke jungle, vette ragga, techno, electro en dub worden naadloos in elkaar geweven en ondergedompeld in een desolaat sfeertje.


SPECTRON (DADDY LONGLEGS)

ALCHEMIC BABYLON BEATS is dan weer een project uit Wallonië dat Didgeridoo vermengt met Bongo's, Conga, electronic pads, djembé en ga zo maar door. Dat alle bandleden fan zijn van Reggae valt op, maar de eigenzinnige beats en melodieën geven het project hun eigen richting.

JOSHUA

Joshua is leaded by Greg Avau from brussels. His goal with MC SENSO: create a musical univers without gates and mix it to a strong graphic imagery. Active since 2001. Joshua keeps his electro love untouched and trim a hip hop flow but preserves his rock 'n' roll attitude that characterize him since day one.


DEACOY (partyset)

S-deacoy has a pretty busy past. He co-founded "nihilium defence" and played as a techno DJ on many parties. But
the 4/4 beats bored him pretty fast. At that point he started to produce his own tracks. First on other people's material because of the lack of money, but then (thanks to some software) he started composing on his homecomputer. Now no rythm is too complex, no sound too strange. Experimenting with samples and loops, Deacoy found peace of mind.
