Vorige week hadden we het op deze pagina's al over het uitstekende debuut van Various, en ook Burial behoort tot de gangmakers van het in Groot-Brittannië florerende dubstepgenre.

Dit debuut is een compilatie van tracks die de voorbije vijf jaar werden opgenomen, maar de nummers vormen een coherent geheel en presenteren zich samen als een donkere, nachtelijke soundtrack bij een wandeling door de guurste wijken van de grootstad Londen. Net als bij Various zijn de overeenkomsten met het recentere werk van Massive Attack nooit veraf, maar dat is ook in dit geval als een compliment bedoeld. De muziek klinkt mysterieus en ondefinieerbaar. De ene keer denk je er een zucht reggae in te herkennen, een moment later knettert er een beat door die zo uit de Britse garagescene lijkt geïmporteerd, en nog een andere keer voel je de schaduwen van Aphex Twin en Pole over je schouders vallen. Nummers als 'Wounder' en 'Nightbus' lijken muren die dichterbij sluipen tot ze je helemaal hebben ingesloten, roepen een soort claustrofobie op waar je niet zozeer paniekerig maar net ontzettend rustig van wordt. Een perfecte plaat om 's nachts in een verduisterde kamer met de hoofdtelefoon naar te luisteren. Een intrigerend debuut vol melancholische beats en intimiderende schoonheid. (Cargo Records)

Then the focus of the night will be delivered by N-Type (Dub Police - Rinse FM)
and then Walsh (Immerse - Dub Police).
Those guys are pure badmen Dubstep selectaz. Dubplates bizness !

The end of the night will be rocked by a ragga / reggae breakz mix with the
mighty Mellow and Red Ant on the decks !

Harmonica spices with Mr Jo and toasted rhymes and soul with da 1Poss MC all
night long !

Gonna be massive !
